What Battery Does the DeWalt DCF887 Use?
The DeWalt DCF887 runs on the DeWalt 20V MAX battery platform. Any DeWalt 20V MAX or XR battery will work, and FLEXVOLT 60V MAX batteries are also backward-compatible.
About the DeWalt DCF887
The DeWalt DCF887 is a 20V MAX XR brushless 3-speed impact driver delivering up to 205 N·m of torque. It features a 1/4 inch hex chuck, 3-speed settings (0-1,000 / 0-2,800 / 0-3,250 RPM), precision drive mode for reduced speed during delicate fastening, and an LED work light with a 20-second delay after trigger release.
Compatible Batteries for the DeWalt DCF887
All DeWalt 20V MAX batteries are compatible with the DCF887. FLEXVOLT batteries also work via backward compatibility.
| Battery Model | Capacity | Weight | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| DCB201 | 1.5Ah | 0.33kg | Compatible |
| DCB203 | 2.0Ah | 0.37kg | Compatible |
| DCB200 | 3.0Ah | 0.45kg | Compatible |
| DCB204 | 4.0Ah | 0.59kg | Recommended |
| DCB205 | 5.0Ah | 0.62kg | Recommended |
| DCB206 | 6.0Ah | 0.69kg | Compatible |
Recommended Battery
DCB204 or DCB205 — Impact drivers benefit from consistent power. A 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah battery provides the ideal balance of runtime and weight for all-day driving work.
Minimum Battery
DCB201 — The efficient brushless motor runs well on compact batteries for light fastening, but runtime will be short during heavy driving.
Battery Compatibility Notes
All DeWalt 20V MAX batteries share the same rail-mount system. FLEXVOLT batteries (DCB606, DCB609, DCB612) are backward-compatible and will run this tool at 20V. Higher Ah ratings mean longer runtime, not more power.
