Minimum Battery
BL1840 — A 4.0Ah battery handles light cutting work but will need frequent swapping for anything beyond a few cuts in thick timber.
Battery Compatibility Notes
All Makita 18V LXT batteries use the same slide-on mount and will physically fit the DSS611. Star Protection batteries communicate with the tool to prevent overheating, over-discharging, and over-current for optimal performance.
Higher Ah ratings mean longer runtime, not more power. However, for high-draw tools like circular saws, lower-capacity batteries may struggle to maintain consistent voltage under heavy load.
