The Makita DC18RD is a dual-port 18V LXT charger with two fully independent charging circuits. Both ports can charge simultaneously — so you can top up two batteries at the same time without slowing either charge. Like all Makita 18V LXT chargers, it uses Active 3 technology and is compatible with the full range of LXT batteries.

What the DC18RD Will NOT Charge
The DC18RD is limited to Makita 18V LXT batteries. It will not charge Makita 40V XGT or 12V MAX CXT batteries, and it is not compatible with DeWalt, Milwaukee, or any other brand’s batteries.
DC18RD vs DC18RC — When Does the Dual Port Matter?
If your typical workflow involves running two or more 18V LXT batteries in rotation — such as on a site where tools are in continuous use — the DC18RD eliminates waiting. With the DC18RC you’d need to wait for one battery to finish before starting the second. The DC18RD is also useful for charging a battery for tomorrow’s work while keeping your current one on charge overnight in the second slot.
