Milwaukee 2713-20 M18 FUEL 1″ SDS Plus Rotary Hammer

What Battery Does the Milwaukee 2713-20 Use?

The Milwaukee 2713-20 M18 FUEL 1″ SDS Plus D-Handle Rotary Hammer runs on the Milwaukee M18 18V battery platform. Any Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM battery will power this tool, though high-output batteries are essential for concrete drilling performance.

About the Milwaukee 2713-20

The Milwaukee 2713-20 is an SDS Plus rotary hammer delivering 2.1 ft-lbs of impact energy at 1,400 RPM and 4,900 BPM. It features three modes — hammer drill, rotation only, and hammer only — making it suitable for drilling into concrete and masonry, driving ground rods, and light chiselling work. The anti-vibration system reduces user fatigue during extended overhead or horizontal drilling sessions.

Recommended Battery

For the 2713-20, the 48-11-1860 (6.0Ah) High Output battery is the best choice. Rotary hammers demand high sustained current for impact energy, and the 6.0Ah High Output pack delivers consistent performance hole after hole. For jobs requiring many anchor holes in concrete — such as electrical or plumbing rough-in — the extra capacity is essential.

Minimum Battery

The 48-11-1840 (4.0Ah) is the practical minimum for the 2713-20. Compact batteries will technically run the tool, but impact energy and drilling speed may suffer under load. For drilling a few Tapcon holes or anchors, a 4.0Ah works — for anything more, use a 5.0Ah or 6.0Ah pack.

Battery Compatibility Notes

  • All M18 REDLITHIUM batteries are backwards and forwards compatible with every M18 tool
  • High Output batteries are critical for rotary hammers — they deliver the sustained current needed for consistent impact energy
  • M18 batteries are NOT compatible with M12 tools or older V18 tools
  • The anti-vibration system works with any battery — no special battery required for this feature
