Makita DTD153 18V LXT Brushless Impact Driver

What Battery Does the Makita DTD153 Use?

The Makita DTD153 runs on the Makita 18V LXT battery platform. Any Makita 18V LXT battery with the star protection system will work with this tool, giving you flexibility to choose the capacity that best suits your work.

About the Makita DTD153

The Makita DTD153 is a compact 18V LXT brushless impact driver with 170 N·m of torque. It features a 1/4 inch hex drive, variable speed trigger (0-3,600 RPM / 0-3,800 IPM), and one-touch bit installation. The brushless motor and compact 116mm head length make it ideal for tight spaces.

Compatible Batteries for the Makita DTD153

All Makita 18V LXT batteries are compatible with the DTD153. Here is how each option compares:

Battery ModelCapacityWeightRating

BL18202.0Ah0.37kgCompatible
BL18303.0Ah0.46kgCompatible
BL18404.0Ah0.56kgRecommended
BL1850B5.0Ah0.64kgRecommended
BL1860B6.0Ah0.67kgCompatible

Recommended Battery

BL1850B or BL1840 — Impact drivers benefit from consistent power delivery. A 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah battery provides the ideal balance of runtime and weight for all-day driving.

Minimum Battery

BL1815 — Suitable for light fastening work, but the 1.5Ah capacity will drain quickly during continuous high-torque driving.

Battery Compatibility Notes

All Makita 18V LXT batteries use the same slide-on mount and will physically fit the DTD153. Star Protection batteries (marked with a star symbol) communicate with the tool to prevent overheating, over-discharging, and over-current for optimal performance.

Higher Ah (amp-hour) ratings mean longer runtime, not more power. All compatible batteries deliver the same 18V output.
