The Makita DC18RC is Makita’s most popular 18V LXT rapid charger, included in the majority of 18V LXT combo kits. It charges the full range of Makita 18V LXT batteries using Makita’s Active 3 charging technology, which monitors battery temperature, voltage, and current to optimise charge speed and protect cell life. It does not charge Makita 40V XGT, 12V MAX CXT, or any other brand’s batteries.

What the DC18RC Will NOT Charge
The DC18RC is designed exclusively for the 18V LXT platform. It will not charge Makita 40V XGT batteries (DC40RA charger required), Makita 12V MAX CXT batteries (DC10SA charger required), or any DeWalt, Milwaukee, or other brand batteries. The connectors are physically different and cross-brand charging is not possible.
DC18RC vs DC18RD — Which Should You Buy?
The DC18RC charges one battery at a time; the DC18RD has two independent charging ports and can charge two LXT batteries simultaneously. If you regularly run two or more batteries on a job, the DC18RD saves time. The DC18RC is the better choice for users who only need one charger and want a lighter, less expensive unit that covers everything in the 18V LXT range.
