What Battery Does the DeWalt DCS380 Use?
The DeWalt DCS380 runs on the DeWalt 20V MAX battery platform. Any DeWalt 20V MAX or XR battery will work, and FLEXVOLT batteries are backward-compatible.
About the DeWalt DCS380
The DeWalt DCS380 is a 20V MAX reciprocating saw with a 28.6mm stroke length and 0-3,000 SPM variable speed. It features a keyless blade clamp for quick blade changes, a pivoting adjustable shoe, and a comfortable overmoulded rubber grip. Weighing 2.9kg bare, it handles demolition, remodelling, and general cutting tasks.

Recommended Battery
DCB205 or DCB206 — Reciprocating saws draw heavy power during cutting. A 5.0Ah or 6.0Ah battery provides the stamina for demolition and extended cutting work.
Minimum Battery
DCB200 — A 3.0Ah battery is fine for occasional cuts in wood or PVC, but runtime will be limited for heavy demolition.
Battery Compatibility Notes
All DeWalt 20V MAX batteries share the same rail-mount system. FLEXVOLT batteries are backward-compatible at 20V. Higher Ah ratings mean longer runtime, not more power.

Compatibility caveats: Brushed motor (replaceable carbon brushes). 0–2,950 spm, 29mm stroke, 300mm wood capacity.
If it won’t start or cuts out: Slowing or stalling mid-cut means the pack is too small or hot — step up to a 5.0Ah+.
